Mythbusters

Greetings Roadrunners,

Our phones have been blowing up like Drake's "Hotline Bling" with questions about closing and cancellations. Your friendly Residential Life staff has suited up for the task to debunk all of these myths:

I HAVE TO MOVE ALL OF MY STUFF OUT OVER THE BREAK!?!
Busted! That would be cruel and unusual punishment. Your personal belongings can remain in your apartment during the break. Please however take the necessary safety precautions and follow your closing list that will be emailed to you.

I CAN STAY ON CAMPUS OVER THE WINTER BREAK IF I WANT TO!
Busted! You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here! Sorry, the college is closed over winter break and all students must leave campus by noon on Tuesday, December 15th unless approved by the Residential Life Office. If you need to request to stay on campus during this time, please complete the following form: http://tinyurl.com/p5jmqsc (hint: only international students, or students working on campus are generally the ones approved.)

I HAVE TO CHECK OUT WITH AN R.A. AND TURN IN MY KEYS WHEN I AM READY TO LEAVE FOR THE BREAK.
Busted! As soon as you complete your closing checklist you are good to go! Make sure you pack everything you need (medicine, phone chargers, debit cards, toothbrush, My Little Pony collection - we support that Brony life) because you will not be allowed back on campus during the break.

ONCE I HAVE TURNED IN MY CANCELLATION FORM, I HAVE 24 HOURS TO VACATE MY APARTMENT.
Busted! You can remain in your apartment until noon on Tuesday, December 15th. If you are cancelling, you must come to the Residential Life Office to complete check-out paperwork and turn in your keys. If you are planning to cancel, PLEASE TURN IN YOUR FORM. While we have many skills, mind reading isn't one of them.

I MUST PAY THE $500 CANCELLATION FEE TO THE RESIDENTIAL LIFE OFFICE WHEN I TURN IN MY CANCELLATION FORM.
Busted! The only money we keep in our office is Monopoly - dollar dollar bills y'all! The cancellation fee will be added to your student account and should be paid at the Business Office.

If there are any other Closing or Cancellation myths we can bust or confirm for you, please do not hesitate to email us at housing@daltonstate.edu or call (706) 529-6752.

Good luck on the end of your semester!
