Greetings Roadrunners!
Laundry...an unpleasant task that all college students despise and refuse to do until they are down to their last clean outfit.
As we are all aware, doing laundry is less than wonderful. However, it is even worse when people aren't courteous in the laundry room. In order to make it a little less miserable, here are a few guidelines that will help:
TIME YOUR CLOTHES:
Since there is a limited amount of washing machines, it is disrespectful when someone leaves their clothes sitting in the washer for three hours. If you are this person, chances are, your clothes may be tossed on top of a machine by eager bystanders awaiting their turn. Timing your clothes allows everyone a chance to get to use the machines in an orderly manner. It also gives you the chance to leave the laundry room and come back when they are finished so that you don't have to waste an hour standing around waiting on them.
DON'T MESS WITH PEOPLE'S STUFF:
If you happen to encounter someone who does leave their clothes in the machine, don't be the person that chunks their things onto the ground. First of all, they probably won't appreciate their newly clean clothes becoming dirty again. Secondly, you are giving other people the chance to steal your clothes, which is definitely not cool. We should strive to keep the laundry room a theft-free environment. As Roadrunner ID cards are vital to accessing the laundry room and many other things on campus, should you find a card that seems to be missing its owner, you may turn it in to the office so that we can get it back to them.
CLEAN OUT YOUR LEFT-OVER DETERGENT:
This rule is pretty self-explanatory. Nobody likes to finally get their turn to wash their clothes only to find out that the person before them didn't both to clean up their mess. Leaving in old detergent just causes the next person to have super soapy clothes that they will need to spend more time rinsing.
CLEAN OUT THE DRYER LINT:
Although it may sound minor, cleaning the lint out of the dryer is a vital part in the laundry process. Fortunately, it is also the least time consuming. Cleaning out the lint helps the machines function properly, so please take the extra minute to do it.
IF IT'S BROKEN, REPORT IT:
The washing and drying machines are used constantly, so it is expected that they will sometimes need maintenance. If you happen to experience a malfunction with a machine, please report it to the Office of Residential Life so we can get it fixed as soon as possible.
Happy washing and drying!
