Dalton State's Furry Friends

Greetings Roadrunners,

As you are all aware, DSC has collected quite an abundance of furry friends this year. With many of us being avid cat lovers, our first reaction is to flock to the cute little felines and befriend them. However, DSC has already constructed a committee to help out our new friends.

The Feral Cat Committee traps the cats (not violently), gets them neutered (only so that their population doesn't out-weigh ours), gives them the necessary vaccinations and then provides them with shelter and love. That's right folks, shelter and love! The committee is trying to help the cats so that they can stay around campus. I know that we all cringe when we think of a guy in uniform chasing around our favorite pets with a net, but they are not going to haul our friends off to a pound. I can assure you that if that were the case, many of our students would be the first to run to their rescue.

To help out the committee and our furry neighbors, it is in the cats best interests to refrain from feeding/caring for the animals. Feeding the cats other foods like meats and snacks, and drinks like milk can make them sick. We know that you all love our cat friends, but please leave the cat care to the committee. If you are interested in getting involved with the Feral Cat Committee on campus, please contact Paul Tate at prtate@daltonstate.edu.

Happy Holidays!
